A Dog's Paradise! - Tips for Tail-Wagging Fun

Here at Tilba Coastal Retreat, we LOVE dogs—just ask our three little furballs, Tilly, Tana, and our youngest, Piper! They can't get enough of the beautiful six acres we call home, and we’re sure your pooch will feel the same. We’re thrilled to welcome well-behaved dogs (and their equally well-behaved owners, of course), and we’ve got a few tips to ensure everyone has a fabulous time.

Settling In

When you first arrive, keep your pup on the lead while they take in all the exciting new smells and sights. Once they’re settled, let them loose! The big paddocks outside your suite are their playground, but just keep an eye on them so they don’t wander too far or decide to make new friends next door. And of course, don’t forget to scoop the poop! We’ve got bags at the ready.

Meeting New Pals:

There may be other dogs staying with us, and we want all those greetings to go smoothly. Feel free to introduce your dog but be mindful, some pups are social butterflies, while others might be a bit shy. Let’s keep the vibes friendly!

Creature Comforts

To help your dog feel right at home, bring along their bed, food/water bowls, and any favourite toys. But no worries if you forget something—our Doggy Welcome Basket has got you covered with essentials like bowls, towels, and poo bags. We kindly ask that your pup stays off the furniture and beds, but if for whatever reason your pooch does jumps on the furniture, please use the towels provided to protect our couches and beds, and a quick sweep with the lint roller will do the trick at checkout!

Paw-some Cleanliness

After a fun romp outside, don’t forget to dry off those muddy paws with the towels provided before they come inside. And, please make sure any little ‘presents’ (a.k.a. poop) are picked up and popped in the outside bin. You’ll help keep the grounds fresh and avoid any “messy mower” moments!

Peace & Quiet

We all love a good bark, but we ask that it's kept to a minimum, especially in the early mornings and evenings. After all, we want everyone (humans and dogs alike) to enjoy their peaceful retreat. If barking becomes a bit too much, we may have to step in—but we know your pup will be on their best behaviour!

Puppy Staycation Tips

Please don’t leave your dog alone in the suite or fenced area. We want them to enjoy the vacation just as much as you! Plus, our suites are in tip-top shape, and we’d like to keep it that way—chewing furniture or sneaky bathroom breaks inside aren’t the best souvenirs! You’ll be responsible for any damages, so let’s keep it fun and stress-free.

Stay Flea & Tick Free

Before your stay, make sure your dog is protected against fleas and ticks. The South Coast is a tick area, so a quick check with your vet before arriving is a good idea. Need a vet while you're here? Montague Vets in Narooma is just a short drive away at 60a Glasshouse Rocks Road, ph. (02) 4476 5530. They’re happy to help if anything comes up!

Explore Tilba and surrounds with Your Furry Friend

There’s so much to see and do with your dog in our stunning region. Whether you’re enjoying one of the dog-friendly cafes, sampling the local brews, or heading to the beach, there’s something for every pup (and human).

Dog-friendly beaches? You’ve got plenty to choose from:

  • Tilba Beach (Cemetery Beach) is off-leash year-round.

  • Mystery Bay Beach is off-leash 24/7 in winter, and in summer, dogs can run free before 9 am and after 5 pm.

  • Handkerchief Beach is another great spot.

  • Or, let your dog stretch their legs at the fenced, off-leash area at NATA Oval in Narooma.

We hope you and your dog have the best time here! Whether it’s zooming around the paddocks, splashing in the sea, or just enjoying some well-deserved R&R, we’re here to make your stay as fun and relaxing as possible.

If you have any questions or need anything during your stay, don’t hesitate to ask.

Have a pawsome holiday! 🐾
